As we prepare for the 2010 MLK celebration, we encourage you to join us in paying tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. under our theme for 2010  “Leadership through Service” The ability to provide service in an adverse economic climate is a true test of perseverance.  To serve, is to freely give of yourself to make a difference in the life of a person in need; this is truly service above self.

Our goal is to inspire citizens to answer the call for service in our communities.  Dr. King’s leadership was accentuated by his willingness to serve others. His vision to unify this Nation as one Nation requires each of us to do our part and improve the communities in which we live. There are so many people in need today. The ability to overcome this adversity requires the efforts of the entire community working together and leading the way to meet the needs of the least of us.

Come join us as we work together to build a stronger, safer, unified community. We have planned some exciting activities and look forward to you joining us in the celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Yours in Service,

Earnest R. Burke
Chairman, 2010 MLK Steering Committee
